Bible Exhibition
“The costumes are great. It is so refreshing to have something like this in our school, the children really enjoyed it."

Over sixty-five schools in the Walsall/Birmingham area have had the Bible Exhibition with them, many on a recurring basis. It is in its eighth year of operation.
The exhibition is especially prepared for Junior schools (Years 3-6). It is rich in material having been designed with the National Curriculum in mind. This includes geographical, historical, cultural and useful RE curriculum material on Israel.

The exhibition, which needs a medium sized school hall, consists of 24 boards that stand upright (4 foot x 3 foot) arrayed in clusters of six around the room. The centre piece is a table of Jewish artefacts. Alongside this is a large model of a synagogue, plus models of a contemporary Jewish house and tomb. Each of the five presenters is dressed in a period piece costume - the costumes include a high priest, ruler, shepherd, ladies' costumes and a Roman soldier.

The classes are shown 5 sections of the exhibition at ten minutes each and then complete a worksheet of 16 questions. Overall each Key Stage Two class will be with us for 75 minutes. (It is aimed at Key Stage Two children although we do a truncated version for Key Stage One.)
Comments from teachers range from "Very interesting" to “Yes, it fits with what they have been doing”. It is also not uncommon to hear, “The class doesn’t always behave that well!"
