It means so much ....

Lonely and needy elderly people, referred by Social Services and other agencies, are visited at home or in hospital. ElderLink also runs four extended lunch clubs every week with chiropody and other services available.

"It means a great deal to be able to get out and make new friends."

Visitation
This service covers Acocks Green, Yardley, Hay Mills and Sheldon. Each service user is allocated their own visitor, often a volunteer, who will visit regularly. The frequency of the visits is dependent on the circumstances of each individual and staff availability. The service aims to offer companionship and pastoral care, a listening ear and opportunity for Bible study and prayer. All of our visitors are committed Christians and receive training and supervision.

We also visit Heartlands and Solihull hospitals on Friday afternoons, as long as we are informed of admissions.

Chiropody
The chiropody clinic is open alternate Wednesdays and Thursdays. It is an NHS clinic and you must have a GP's referral to attend or be transferred from another NHS clinic. Appointments can be made by ringing the centre. This is a free service and is available for lunch club members without referral.

How do I join Elderlink?
If you, or someone you know, would benefit from our help, please contact us giving the following details:

  • Name, address, telephone number, date of birth
  • Any health problems or disabilities
  • The social situation including any agencies involved
  • Next of kin
We then make an appointment to visit you at home to talk through your needs and decide on the most appropriate action in your case. We often have a waiting list for lunch club places. It is a priority based list dependent on your circumstances.
