BCM's work with the homeless

The conviction that the Gospel is for the 'whole man' - without the spiritual/ physical divide so often introduced - led first to the setting up of a soup kitchen, then an emergency night shelter, then a men's hostel. This is what has grown into today's full-orbed programme of care work.

Washington Court This modern purpose-built centre for the homeless (a joint initiative with Trident Housing Association) is near to the city centre. It accommodates 45 single homeless people.

Care Centre This is part of the Washington Court complex but provides a service for non-residents, offering food, friendship, advice and advocacy support.  Following every evening meal there is a gospel presentation.

Pamela House In a quiet neighbourhood four miles from the city centre, up to 15 homeless women of all ages can rebuild their lives and move towards resettlement in their own accommodation.

South Court This is a supported house which accommodates six single older homeless men. We seek to address the needs of anyone who is vulnerable and has lived an unsettled way of life.
