Come and share your faith in the city this summer

Who is Summer Urban Outreach for?
Committed Christians aged 16 or over and enthusiastic about sharing the love of God in the city. Participants fall mainly into two categories: those who have a burden to evangelise and don't know how to but are keen to learn; those who have plenty of time in the summer months and would like to do some kind of Christian work. Summer Urban Outreach attracts people from a variety of backgrounds. Traditionally about 70% of participants have been students.
When is it?
The summer outreach programme runs every year from the end of July to early August. You can come for one or two weeks. The dates for this year are 25 July - 6 August.
What will I be doing?
The programme combines the theoretical with the practical. It offers everyone something.
Every day begins with devotional teaching. The mornings of the first week are taken up with seminars on different topics such as open air evangelism, home visitation, apologetics, other religions and children's work. The afternoons are given to practising what we learned in the seminars. This approach lets participants gain valuable experience in evangelism. We have found this 'hands-on' method to be most suitable for those who have no experience of evangelism. There are two sessions for prayers and feedback.

The second week's programme concentrates on evangelism in a particular district of Birmingham, working with a church. In the evenings of both weeks there are opportunities to do homeless work - feeding and sharing the Gospel with the homeless in the city centre. Participants will have opportunities to share their faith, either in preaching or giving their testimony.
