Donating to the Resource Centre

Food

We are very committed to giving people a balanced diet in their food parcels. This is difficult because we run out of essentials really quickly. Most of the items we give out in the parcels come from the harvest produce collections for which we are extremely grateful. From these collections we get lots of tins of baked beans, mixed fruit and chopped tomatoes but we don’t get a lot of coffee, cornflakes or sugar.

The numbers of those being helped has increased and in the last few years harvest stocks alone have not been sufficient. We need supplies of the following items on a regular basis throughout the year.  The items marked are those we run out of quickly:

It's worth getting an update on items most needed from time to time.

Most of these items cut deeply into the budget but are far from luxuries. What a brilliant project for your youth group or church to get involved in.

Clothes

"Give us everything - but also some good stuff, please!"

The clothes donated to BCM are sorted and cleaned at the Resource Centre. Perhaps it's a reflection of the general quality of items donated, but this sorting usually generates about a tonne of material each week for the rag man to collect. We're grateful even for the rags, though, as they can be recycled and we receive money for them. When interviewed recently, one of the Resource Centre staff (commenting on this 'rag' situation) was reported to say "Give us everything [i.e. old & newer clothing items] - but also some good stuff, please!" . Good clothing supplied to us goes to our care shop and also is available for direct sale (at very low prices) to homeless and needy people who come to the Resource Centre directly.

Please check the Resource Centre is open if you wish to deliver goods.  Our telephone number is 0121 643 4324. Because most of our staff are out on the road it is often difficult to get hold of us. Please keep trying.
